DBeaver 1.0 released!

Hooray, finally, in the last day of winter we have released!

This version changes:

  • Project configuration import/export (so now you can share your DB configurations with colleagues).
  • 3rd party configuration import added (in this release SQL Squirrel and DBVisualizer are supported)
  • Mimer and HXTT DB engines were tested and added to supported DB list (special thanks to Wolf van Heeswijk). Extra DB configurations added to generic plugin.
  • Debian package is now available as Linux installer
  • Many bugfixes and minor UI fixes

It took about a year of development to create DBeaver from scratch. So today is really a great day for us. Thanks to everyone who helped this project born.

In nearest days we will open discussion forum and issue tracker (Bugzilla) for public access.

Release Candidate 2

RC2 is available for download!
General UI
Major new features:

  • Bookmarks – any database objects can be added to bookmarks. Very usefull if you use only a little set of DB objects from a huge database with multiple schemas/tables/etc.
  • Scripts management. Now scripts are saved in special folders so you won’t loose any entered queries after script close. Scripts could be organized in folders.
  • Projects. Connections, scripts and bookmarks could be grouped into projects.

Additionally we have many bugfixes.

DBeaver is now tested under Firebird, Derby, HSQLDB, H2, McKoi, SmallSQL and dBase. Special thanks to Wolf van Heeswijk for testing against rare used database systems

This is the last RC version, next version will be release and it will be available in February 2011

Now we are in feature freeze mode, only bugfixes and minor changes will be added in final release version

Great thanks to everyone who wrote us emails with suggestions and bug reports – it greatly helps us to deliver quality software!

Release Candidate 1

Merry Christmass and Happy New Year!

RC1 is ready for download. New major features are:

  • Database objects search (tables, procedures, constraints. columns, etc)

Generic driver supports only tables and procedures (as it provided by JDBC API) but advanced plugins (MySQL in this version) may provide as many object types as underlying database supports.
  • MySQL enhancements: user and schema managemenet.
  • New drivers added/updated in generic plugin (Oracle 11, Sybase).
  • SQL editor autocomplete and hyperlinks are improved.

And as usually there were a lot of fixes and UI improvements.

Have a good holidays!

Sixth beta sees a light a little bit later than other betas due to a forced absence (business trip) of the main developer for a few weeks. Anyway, probably this is the last beta, we are very close to release condidate version. Hopefully it’ll be ready before Christmass.
Changes in this version:

  • Resultset ordering and filtering
  • Hyperlinks in object editors
  • Confirmations of some user actions (like disconnect, resultset close, etc)
  • Improved preferences dialogs
  • Bugfixes and a lot of UI fixes

Give me five

Fifth beta is ready and can be downloaded.

New features:

  • Query manager (logs all queries, including metadata and utility SQL executed by DBeaver) – present as separate view and as “Execution Log” in SQL editor.
  • Explain execution plan (available in SQL editor). For now implemented only for MySQL.
  • SQL formatting
  • ResultSet edit was improved (navigation, shortcuts, refresh).
  • Preferences reorganized, “Appearance” (customize look-and-feel), “Keys” (keyboard shortcuts) and “Query Manager” pages added

Many UI and runtime errors fixed. Also many driver-specific fixes (especially for Oracle, PostgreSQL and DB2). Command (shortcuts) handling model was refactored and improved.

2 + 2 = 2 × 2 = 22 = 4

Yahoo, fourth beta is here! I like this number.

As usual you may download new version here.
Well, what we have…

  • Data export. CSV and SQL inserts formats supported.
  • Data formatting customization. User may set locale dependent or custom formatting of  numbers and date/time values.
  • SQL editor autocomplete additions
  • Improved shortcuts for often used commands
  • DB2 driver added to generic plugin
  • A lot of bugfixes and improvements, as always

By the way performance was increased, memory consumption and distribution size were decreased.

Another good news is that user registration is open on this site. At last.

Note: this versions seriously differs from previous one (another plugin set and configurations). If you upgrade older version then I’d suggest to unpack it in new location (not overwrite old one). All UI configurations and scripts will remain the same.
