Folders in Database Navigator Pane

Postby sandman42 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 10:15 am

Hi,

itwould be a good idea to add folders in Database Navigator Pane, like Oracle SQL Developer does.

It is a good idea to keep Database Navigator Pane tidy, otherwise it becomes rapidly a mess if you have lots of different connections to the same place and you have also lots of places.

Generally, for connections grouping purposes DBeaver uses projects. But, yes, it is one-level grouping and it doesn't helps if you have a lot of connections in a single project.
May be it is a good idea to add folders. We won't implement it in nearest version (now we are in a feature freeze mode) but probably will do it in the next one.

Thanks!

In my opinion a folders in connection window is a must have feature. Without them an list of database connections will became to mess very rapidly. Especially if someone has several projects with more than one connection for project.

Connection folders can be an optional feature too. They can be enabled by default in standalone version, but disabled if DBeaver is used as Eclipse plugin with possibility to switch them on.

Hi,

DBeaver already supports folders (this feature was added a few months ago), see screenshot.
Folders works in both standalone and Eclipse versions.
