Changing data browser text encoding

Postby dma » Tue Aug 28, 2012 3:06 pm

Hello,

First, congrats in this great tool.
Finally a free DB GUI client with bitmap BLOB viewer! (which even features rotate/resize functions, amazing)
I am using it with FireBird embedded database and it works like a charm.

But then, i am wondering how to set the encoding for textual data in the "content" view?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi,

You may set charset for any CLOB/TEXT content. See main toolbar:

Mhh, this toolbar button doesn't seem available in the version I use (1.6.2).

-- EDIT --

But i found that i can add a connexion property to specify encoding on the JDBC connector.
"lc_ctype=UNICODE_FSS" then giving me correct characters for all text in the database (various languages), great!

Hi,

You mentioned BLOBS and content viewer so I thought you mean CLOBS viewer - in that case toolbar looks like in my screenshot and you may change encoding for each particular CLOB value.
And, for sure, you may change connection's encoding using advance properties (which are driver dependent).

Hopefully somedays we'll have extension for Firebird and then we'll create specific UI for connections encoding.

Thanks!
