Doesn't looks like DBeaver problem. Although it is odd that HeidiSQL works ok.
Are there any errors in Error Log (with stacktrace)?

Yeah, most likely not DBeaver, Oracle SQL Developer shows the same (though the timezone it reports is different, go figure).

Thanks for the links, I saw the first one prior to posting here and it didn't help much, but the second one might be onto something. The database is a built-in one on a Synology NAS, not really meant to be connected to, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was misconfigured.
