Problem connecting to Oracle

Postby sandman42 » Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:39 am

Hi,

I'm having problems on connect to oracle servers.

Particularly, when I try to connect, I have the error:

Error connecting to datasource 'MYDB'
Unexpected driver error occurred while connecting to database
no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path

Needless to mention that I have Oracle client installed, working ok from other apps.

What's wrong?

Ciao

Probably you should use Thin driver - it doesn't require native client.

In any case, Oracle client must be in system PATH, otherwise OCI driver won't work.
Note that if you have multiple Oracle client installations then the only one which will work is that one which is in PATH.

Thanks for report

That's interesting.

I suppose you are not on Windows. And you have Oracle 11g client.
Could you say what exactly OS/client do you have? Especially - is it "normal" or "Instant" Oracle client?

Unfortunatelly support of OCI driver wasn't well-tested on Linux/Unix platforms yet. In fact there are not much users with such environment and we lack feedbacks :(
If we will figure out the problem quickly then we'll release another hotfix version in a few days.

Thanks!

Concerning connect error:

I think you have an unusual Oracle environment.
What do you see in Oracle Home selector combo? What client version is there? Or may be there are multiple homes?
If you click on "Browse" item in this combo you may see detailed client description - is it correct?

Concerning problem with connection role: yes, it is a bug in DBeaver. It will be fixed in next hotfix version.

Sorry for delay - right now I'm in vacation, too far from my development environment ;) But I think we'll make hotfix version in the beginning of next week.

Thanks for your reports!
